A Netflix app is something that should have been a first generation app and ready on launch day! An app like this seems like a no brainer for the Iphone, easy to add or delete movies instead of waiting til you have a chance to get on a computer to update your queue.
Phoneflix is such an app that tries to remedy the lack of Netflix apps. The interface looks like a native Iphone application, which means it is sparse but functional. On the upside, the clean interface allows for easy navigation, and it works well. All the features available on the Netflix website seem to be available, except for the watch instantly feature of course. The “recommendation” feature was not working but its not a dealbreaker for me, but it is a prominent feature on the website so it should be able to work on the app.
As a simple “portable Netflix”, it gets the job done, but most apps today have much better graphics and it seems like the old spartan template for iphone apps should be improved upon by now.

I’m kind of a control freak when it comes to managing money, I constantly check my bank account and credit cards. I was searching for Iphone apps that would resemble mint.com’s functionality and found the pageonce iphone app. Hearing the description about this app sounded like a perfect fit for me, check multiple financial websites next to social networking sites…..i would save so much time! I was wary of giving my account information to ANOTHER financial management website seeing as I use Mint already, but the pageonce website sells its advanced security features very well. Also, the ability of checking my Netflix queue and multiple MySpace accounts with one login appealed to me, it sounded like its all I’ve wanted from this type of website. While pageonce does what is advertised, I feel its design could be much more elegant. The icons are much too small and the interface is sparse, having only buttons. Once logged in there isn’t much I can do with the limited account information provided. To actually change something I would have to login to the actual website, I can’t change anything from the app. It really feels like just a screenshot of the account, which will be fine for some people, but I feel I need more features, such as checking the due dates on credit card payments. I feel while pageonce does do what it’s supposed to, it could be capable of much more. I look forward to pageonce 2.0.

The new iphone app store launched a few weeks ago and I, like everyone else who throws money at anything steve jobs brands with a freshly enjoyed fruit of sin, waded through the free flashlight apps looking for something useful. My hope was to enjoy all the free apps and not be tempted to buy anything at the Itunes store, hopefully not running into anything terribly awesome.
On To Pandora and AOL Radio…
I had never seen the appeal of internet radio before these two apps. Imagine some you’re having some friends are over, but they dont share your enthusiasm for say, Don Caballero. “Blasphemy!” you say, “Surely not a person exists who delivers such speech with reckless abandon!” Oh, but i assure you, people with different taste in music do exist. Solution? Connect your phone to your speakers, click on AOL Radio and find the Tupac only radio stations, then on to the Regional Mexican only radio stations, and you have an instant party and glowing praise from your loved ones. I foresee much use of this wonderful app.
